Discontinuation of Walk-in Services

In the wake of outbreak of Corona virus (COVID-19), it has been decided to suspend all walk-in /over the counter services at the Consulate General of India, Toronto with immediate effect, until further notice.

For Passport / PCC / OCI services –  Please send your Passport, OCI and Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) applications at the BLS by Post/courier.  BLS is offering postal service due to COVID-19.  Please contact their call centres / customer service  to book your postal application at the given numbers (Brampton/Toronto – 4163072237;  Winnipeg- 2042853985. BLS can also be contacted by email at – qc.ca@blsinternational.net  (website - https://www.blsindia-canada.com/). Services may have longer processing times.

For Tatkal passport, please email your request only in emergency cases to – consec.toronto@mea.gov.in; once your request is approved, you will advised to send the request to the Consulate directly by post.

Visa services –  As you are aware, flights are not allowed to land in India till 14 April 2020, visas are not processed at this moment.  Visas may be applied at the Consulate only in emergency cases, 2-3 days before your travel date, once it is finalized.  Visa requests may be emailed to the Consulate (visa.toronto@mea.gov.in or cons.toronto@mea.gov.in)  only when Consulate notifies resumption of flights to India.   Visa request only emergency cases like death, medical, marriage of self, etc, should be supported by relevant documents, i.e., death certificate/notification, medical certificate from hospital in India, wedding card, copies of passports establishing relationship in marriage cases, etc. The applicant should visit the Consulate for obtaining visa, only after the approval is given on email.

Attestation (by Post) – Services for Indian nationals for attestation of POA (except WILL), civil documents, affidavits, commercial documents,  driving licence, issue of life certificate, issue of certificate of DOB Certificate, Marriage, death, NRI, service related to transportation of mortal remains / ashes may be sent by post to the Consulate (365 Bloor Street East, Toronto). Canadian nationals will be required to do prior notarization of documents at Service Ontario (222 Jarvis Street, Toronto) and thereafter will send the documents to the Consulate by Post for attestation.

Please note that original documents are not required to be sent for services at the Consulate, only photocopies need to be sent.

How to pay fee - Fee for services at the Consulate is to be paid by Bank Draft / Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Consulate General of India, Toronto’. 

Important Note: Due to COVID-19, Consulate is working with skeletal strength, we seek your cooperation. Delays may be expected in the given circumstances.

  • Consulate will not be responsible for loss of passport or other documents in transit by post.
  • Please do not forget to send self-addressed prepaid envelope for return of serviced documents.
