Global E-Tender for procurement of Animal Eartags

Posted on: February 26, 2020 | Back | Print

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India launched the “National Animal Disease Control Programme for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis (NADCP)” on 11 September 2019. NADCP is a new Central Sector scheme with a total outlay of Rs. 13, 343 Crore for five years )2019-24). The objective of the scheme is (i) to achieve control of FMD by 2025 with vaccination and its eventual eradication by 2020 and (ii) to control Brucellosis in livestock. Implementation of the programme entails vaccination of all target animals i.e Cattle, Buffalo, Sheep, Goat and Pigs while establishing their identity by ear tagging them with ear tags carrying 12 digit Unique ID (Pashu Aadhaar) and whose database will be maintained in Information Network for Animal Productivity & Health (INAPH) maintained by National Diary Development Board (NDDB). Eradication of FMD will remove sanitary and phytosanitary objections against Indian animal products like milk & meat products and give them wider export markets.

Hence, a global tender is being floated by National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) on Central Procurement Ports (CPP)  for the procurement of eartags for livestock under PM’s “National Animal Disease Control Programme for Foot and Mouth Disease(FMD) and Brucellosis (NADCP)”.
