WARNING!! Job offers in Canada

Posted on: November 23, 2023 | Back | Print

The Consulate has been receiving increasing amount of communications for verification of authenticity of job offers from Canada.

Prospective applicants are requested to make a note of the following:

  • The genuine employment offers are laid out on the letterhead of company with detailed description of terms of offer including the leaves, insurance and health related benefits etc. As part of your recruitment process, you may go through series of interview with different verticals of company.
  • Genuine job offers will not include demands for payments of any kind (including charges for processing of visa/Work Permit, transport, travel etc.).
  • No company can apply for visa on your behalf or influence the outcome of a visa application. Canadian visas are only processed by IRCC and can not be influenced by any agency or organization. A valid job offer will only list the job's terms and conditions and will require you to apply for visa yourself.
  • You can also use authentication of immigration-related documents service through the link given below -https://www.international.gc.ca/world-monde/study_work_travel-etude_travail_voyage/index.aspx?lang=eng . Authentication is a free service provided by the Government of Canada to prove that the signature, seal and position of an official on a document issued or certified in one jurisdiction or country is genuine, so that it can be recognized in another jurisdiction or country. In other countries this is known as legalization or apostille.
  • You may also like to verify the credentials of the company. Once verified, you may like to go through the company website and contact them through the details on website.

Please be aware that there has been an increase in the number of such fraud cases recently. We would strongly advise job seekers to avoid payments of any kind and to not share personal information to any job offer without verification. Proceed cautiously and do not get lured into paying any money and sharing personal information to such fraudulent job offers as such companies/people use these tactics as an easy way to get money from unsuspecting people.
