About Us Life Certificate

Consulate General of India, Toronto will be issuing the Life Certificates to the pensioners. As per Office Memorandum of Department of Pension, dated September 11, 2020 the pensioners who are above 80 years of age may apply and get their life certificates October 01, 2020 onwards. Other Pensioners will be issued life certificates w.e.f. November 01, 2020. Government of India vide it’s OM No. 18/1/2020-P&PW(H)-Vol-III-6786 dated 23 November, 2020 has further extended the period for submission of Life Certificate by Central Government pensioners till February 28, 2021

 Documents required to be submitted:

  • Duly filled in application form - To be submitted in duplicate. Please ensure usage of the latest form whose link is provided below:

  • Copy of the first and last page of valid Indian passport or copy of first page of valid Canadian passport, as applicable
  • Self addressed & prepaid envelope for return of serviced document by the Consulate
  • IMPORTANT: In addition to the local contact number, the applicant should provide a WhatsApp number on the form to enable video chat for verification purpose.

Life Certificate will be issued only after verification of the applicant through video chat.

 How to apply for Life Certificate:

                 In view of COVID-19 breakout, the Consulate has discontinued walk-in services. The Life Certificate requests may be sent by Post/Courier to the Consulate (365 Bloor St E #700, Toronto, ON M4W 3L4).

FEE:

Please note that no fee is charged by the Consulate for issuance of Life Certificate for pensionary benefits. If anybody comes across any instance of fee being charged, such incident should be brought to our notice at consec.toronto@mea.gov.in. For any non pensionary purpose, issuance of Life Certificate will be charged with an appropriate fee.

 Note: Consulate will not issue any other certificate, namely, re-employment or re-marriage, as these are paid services and should be applied for separately at the Consulate, if needed by the applicant.

 Processing Time: 7-10 working days (excluding time taken in post)
