EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - FORMING OF A PANEL OF LAWYERS


The Consulate General of of India, Toronto requests proposals from interested law firms / lawyers to form a Panel of Lawyers (Consultant) who may be consulted/engaged (Consultant) by the Consulate for providing legal advice/ assistance, whenever required, in matters relating Indian nationals residing under its consular jurisdiction of CGI, Toronto.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Consultant to be hired by the Consulate General of India, Toronto will provide legal assistance to the Indian nationals. The detailed scope of work includes all, but not limited to the following:

1. To represent and proceed with all kinds of cases referred by the Consulate General of India, Toronto related to Indian women affected by violence, in private or public spaces.

2. To provide legal assistance services to Indian nationals referred by the Consulate General of India, Toronto in wide range of cases such as child custody, release of Indian nationals who have completed their prison sentence, filing bail applications in respect of those qualifying for bail, filing of applications for remission of sentences in cases of petty offences, facilitate release of Indian nationals from prisons/detention centres by payment of minor fines/penalties, wherever applicable.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

i. The Consultant to be hired by the Consulate General of India, Toronto must be fully conversant with civil/ family and criminal laws of Canada.

ii. The Consultant must be registered under the relevant Canadian Law and should have all applicable/appropriate licenses in their own name, a copy of which has to be submitted with the Technical Bid.

iii. Must have a team of Legal Experts with at least 1-2 junior or associate lawyers.

iv. Legal expert and associate lawyers must have a Bachelor in Law or equivalent degree from a recognized university with professional experience of at least 3-5 years.

v. The knowledge of Indian civil/ family and criminal law and proficiency in Hindi or other Indian languages by the legal experts will be considered an additional factor for consideration.

vi. A short synopsis may be enclosed describing/ highlighting the major achievements of the law firm in civil/criminal cases in the last 3 to 5 years.
